Griet De MeyerGriet, singing master and music culture teacher at the academy for music, theatre and dance (Stedelijke Academie voor Muziek, Woord en Dans) in Veurne, conducts the Magnificat Choir in Ursel, the Beauvarlet Choir Koksijde and the Vocaal Ensemble Mozaïek.

With these choirs, she has realised productions such as Händel’s Coronation Anthems, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Bach’s Jesu meine Freude, Fauré’s Requiem and many more. Griet is also singing master at Koor en Stem (a Belgian organisation of choirs providing lessons and guidance in singing).

Griet De Meyer has received first prizes in solfege and harmony, as well as the degree of Master of Music, Vocal Studies with Jeanine Lambrechts and Jan Caals at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven. She has studied musicology at the University of Leuven and has obtained the degree of Bachelor of Music in conducting (orchestral) with Edmond Saveniers.

Griet has taken singing masterclasses with Axel Everaerts and Jard van Nes and conducting masterclasses with Daan Admiraal and Alexander Jiménez.

She has been starred as the soloist for the performance of among others Fauré’s Requiem, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Telemann’s baroque cantatas and Mozart’s Requiem. She has also played the role of the second lady in The Magic Flute by Mozart and both Dido and the first witch from Dido and Aeneas by Purcell.
